When you hear the term “aromatherapy,” what do you think of first? You might think of scented candles, incense, air fresheners or body lotions. Well, my friend, I’m here to tell you that true aromatherapy (or aromatic medicine) is none of those things. True aromatherapy involves using pure, therapeutic grade essential oils, medicinally, for health and healing.
This is how you will use Young Living’s essential oils.
Let me explain this a bit further for you. There are two predominant schools of thought on aromatherapy. You have the English, aroma-driven view, and then there’s the French, therapy-driven view. I’ll tell you about the English view first:
The English school of thought practices aromatherapy with highly diluted versions of essential oils. They mainly focus on the massage aspects, using vegetable massage oils containing only 3% essential oils. They highly discourage using essential oils NEAT (undiluted) on your skin, and warn of toxicity issues if ingested. The reason for this is because the essential oils they use are from the fragrance industry and ARE toxic if used undiluted or ingested. The English school also uses the inhalation method, for relaxation and stress relief.
How you will use Young Living’s essential oils is primarily from the French school of thought. Meaning, essential oils are applied undiluted to your skin and also taken internally. French doctors use essential oils as medicine in hospitals and health clinics. Since Young Living’s essential oils are so pure and therapeutic, most all are safe to use NEAT (undiluted) on your skin and also safe for ingestion. However, please see these precautions.
