How do I use essential oils?

Now, there are many different ways to incorporate essential oils into your life.  To find out the best way for you to you to use them, please refer to the book “Essential Oils Desk Reference” (EODR) by Essential Science Publishing.  This book is known as the “Bible” for essential oils, their uses, and application methods.  You can also subscribe to my FREE weekly ezine, Aromatherapy for Life, to learn more application methods of therapeutic grade essential oils.

Below are the 3 most common ways you will use Young Living’s essential oils:

Inhalation
The first way for you to experience essential oils is by smelling them (aka inhalation.)  It’s as easy as opening up the bottle and taking a big whiff!  Suddenly, you feel a sense of peace that envelopes your body…ahhh <smile>.  There is always a notable change that occurs within your body just by simply smelling the essential oil.

Next, put 1 drop in your palm, then rub your hands together and cup them over your nose.  Take 6-8 deep breaths.  Inhalation allows the essential oils to penetrate your limbic system and respiratory system, thus driving the essential oil molecules into the bloodstream via the nervous system and the lungs.

Diffusing essential oils in your environment is also another way of inhalation.  A cold air diffuser is used, as opposed to a heated unit.  A cold air diffuser disperses the essential oil molecules into the air where they produce an environment unfriendly to bacteria, viruses, mold and fungus.  (You should NOT heat Young Living’s essential oils because the heat will destroy the therapeutic value of the essential oils, what a waste!)    Diffusing essential oils in your home is must for keeping your home germ-free and keeping you and your family healthy.  Also, it won’t leave the airborne soot like incense or candles.

Topically
Next, you can use them on your skin.  Why on your skin?  Well, oil molecules are so tiny that they are able to get into your entire body within minutes.  The best place to put essential oils is on the bottoms of your feet.  The largest pores on your body are found on the bottoms of your feet.  Applying essential oils here will get them into your bloodstream within minutes.  Once the oil is within your bloodstream, it immediately begins interacting with your body at a cellular level, creating homeostasis or balance.
