5 Secrets for an Easier Pregnancy by Christa McCourt

Pregnancy can be one of the most enjoyable times in a woman's life. But for some, it can be the most difficult. How can pregnancy produce a full spectrum of difficulties with some women and be a cinch with others?

I believe that fear, conscious or sub-conscious, can be the underlying reason for women who have challenging pregnancies. Fears during pregnancy can consist of; changes in your body, impending labor, being responsible for another human being, not having any free time after baby is born, less time spent with hubby or significant other, money, etc.

Fear can produce high levels of stress that can affect the body in many different ways. Sometimes causing aches and pains, hormonal changes, anxiety and heightened stress levels.

Here are five simple solutions that can help reduce stress and increase your chance for an easier pregnancy.

Massage
Yoga
Meditation
Good nutrition
Therapeutic grade essential oils

(Even if you're not pregnant, or never want to be pregnant, the suggestions below can benefit your health in general, as well!)

1. Massage Therapy

Massage therapy during pregnancy is priceless! Getting weekly massages can decrease the discomfort on your fast-changing body. Studies show that massage during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches, joint pains and improve labor outcomes.

I've massaged quite a few women throughout their pregnancies and they've said that weekly massages made life just a little bit easier! Lavender essential oil is great to use during a pre-natal massage. It soothes dry skin and also helps with relaxation.

2. Practice Yoga

Practicing yoga during these nine months is a great way to prepare your body for labor. Yoga deepens your breath, calms your mind and stretches your muscles. Yoga helps with the aches and pains of pregnancy. Also, mental issues, such as moodiness, can be greatly decreased.
